The administering or dispensing of any medicines (including non-prescription over-the-counter) to students by employees of Manhattan Charter Schools without specific written authorization by a medical doctor and the parent of the student is forbidden.

Medication
If it is absolutely necessary that the child take any medication while at school, each medication must be accompanied by an Medication Authorization Form that has been completed and signed by the child’s doctor and signed by the parent. The medication, including over the counter medication, will be kept in the nurse’s office and will be administered by office personnel. All medication must be dropped off and picked up by the parent and must be labeled with the student name.
EPI-PEN
This is medication and must be accompanied by an Medication Authorization Form () that has been completed and signed by the child’s doctor and signed by the parent. EpiPens will be held in the nurse’s office to safeguard against loss and to ensure safety. All medication must be dropped off and picked up by the parent and must be labeled with the student name.
Inhaler/Nebulizer
If your child uses an inhaler or a nebulizer at school, an Emergency Medication/Treatment Authorization Form must now be completed and signed by a doctor and signed by the parent. Inhalers for students in Gr K-2 will be held in the nurse’s office to safeguard against loss. Nebulizers will be kept in the school nurse’s office and will be administered by office personnel.
Dismissal Changes
No Pick-Up Policy
Manhattan Charter School has a no student pick-up policy when the school is at lunch and recess. Any parents wishing to pick up their child between these hours must make prior arrangements with the Family Relations and Attendance Coordinator and the student’s teacher.
MCS 1 11:00am-1:00 pm
MCS 2 11:30am-1:30 pm
Early Pick Up Policy
If a parent or guardian must occasionally pick up their child early, they will be accommodated only until 2:30 pm. Early pick-ups must take place in the main office. Please note: we will not be able to bring students to the main office for early pick up after 2:30 p.m.
